About the Role: At Hitech Communications Ltd., our technical department is the cornerstone of our operations. As a technician, you will play a vital role in all facets of the company, beginning with foundational responsibilities that are essential to our success, such as the installation and support of our wireless communications systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with customers to provide effective communication solutions in a team-based environment.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess various communications needs and issues.
  • Perform technical fieldwork and troubleshooting using various test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, watt meters, network analyzers, and cable/antenna analyzers.
  • Program 2-way radio subscribers for radio systems.
  • Install various 2-way communication equipment in both light and heavy installations.
  • Implement installations in fixed structures such as office buildings and gas plants.
  • Install GPS/AVL systems and bi-directional amplifiers.
  • Terminate different cables (coax, CAT5, etc.).
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Manage all onsite installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely service reports.
  • Operate a vehicle safely and follow all company procedures and protocols.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, climb ladders, and operate lifts.
  • Utilize hand tools and small power tools effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A recognized certificate or diploma in a related field such as Electronics Systems Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Systems Technician, or Wireless Systems Engineering Technology is preferred; a combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar management role is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in installing, repairing, and programming two-way radios, antennas, coaxial cables, connectors, and remote terminals is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and an acceptable driver’s abstract for travel to customer sites as required.
  • Clean code of conduct and strong mechanical inclination, capable of working with and maintaining hand tools and small power tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull weights up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Strong understanding of installation procedures and best practices.
  • Willingness to learn and develop, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
